My New Ricoh GR III Diary Edition

I recently got a new Ricoh GR III Diary Edition, a compact and fruitful camera perfect for carrying on you 24/7 and capturing anything that catches your eye with pretty impressive quality. Since getting this Diary Edition I’ve been inspired to try using it in a more daily-like fashion, capturing and sharing the ordinary scenes of my daily life. Whether I’m trying a new food, seeing my cat in a funny pose, or just finding something colorful or in nice lighting, I’m hoping to use my new GR III Diary Edition to create a visual journal that reflects both my perspective as an artist and my enjoyment of mostly trivial experiences.

I believe this is my third GR camera, with my first being the GR II and my second the first edition of the GR III. This has been my favorite camera for a long time and for many reasons. Its compact, pocketable size and relatively large sensor make it an all-rounder beast. The GR III generation’s sensor significantly enhances image quality, delivering clear and beautiful photos even at higher ISO settings, a notable improvement from the GR II generation. This combination of portability and performance makes it an indispensable tool for my photography.

I’ve been preparing for the Lloydminster Streetfest 2024 recently. I had to buy a 6 foot long table for that, so I thought I should make use of it at home too.

Today I tested the table in my backyard. I brought some fruit I’ve never tried (yellow dragon fruit from Ecuador), the book I’m reading now, and just tried to enjoy the sunshine altogether. The dragon fruit was super ripe but was not inedible at all. I actually got it for like $1.49 or $1.99 for 4, I can’t remember exactly, but it was so good.

I’ll leave you with the photos from the outing, which turned into my first casual shoot with the ‘GR Diary’ at home. And on one last note, I really like the tree from the first photo. It’s just in front of my house and maybe it cheers me up  a little looking at it all the time.
